  • Shivaji Bhonsale (I) was an Indian warrior-king and a member of the Bhonsle Maratha clan. Shivaji carved out an enclave from the declining Adilshahi sultanate of Bijapur that formed the genesis of the Maratha Empire. In 1674, he was formally crowned as the Chhatrapati of his realm at Raigad.

  • Died: 3 April 1680, Raigad Fort
  • Coronation: 6 June 1674 (first); 24 September 1674 (second)
  • Reign: 1674–1680
  • House: Bhonsle
  • Spouse: Sakvarbai (m. 1656–1680), Putalabai (m. 1653–1680), Sai Bhonsale (m. 1640–1659), Soyarabai (m. ?–1680)

  • How did they died  ?: Nearly 338 years ago, on this day – April 3, 1680 – Maratha warrior king Shivaji Bhonsle, better know as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, died after ill with fever and dysentery.Shivaji's reportedly died on the eve of Hanuman Jayanti.

  • The new name of Prince of Wales Museum is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya.
  • Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya is the main museum in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was founded in the early years of the 20th century by prominent citizens of Mumbai, with the help of the government, to commemorate the visit of George V, who was Prince of Wales at the time.
